Dr. AUSTIN and staff were amazing. I traveled from Nevada and I am so glad I did. He even called me to see how I was doing that night. My family is extremely grateful for the quality care I received with 2 major procedures. I will continue care with Dr. Austin's office for our whole family even though we have to travel to his office.

How Dental Implants Work

Dental implants are made up of three distinct comments: a titanium implant, abutment, and dental restoration. The structure ensures total stability within your jaw, and long-lasting results.

Aren't Dental Implants Expensive? Flexible Financing Options Make Implants Affordable

At our offices in South Ogden and Brigham City, our prices are very competitive. Also, we only charge a single flat fee for implant treatment, which covers an initial consult, a CT scan, the implant itself, and the abutment. There are no surprise charges with us.

Some dental and medical insurance plans may contribute towards a portion of implant treatment. Our experienced team can help you make sense of your policy and maximize your benefits. For costs that are not covered by insurance, we can help you secure financing through CareCredit®. We also offer discounts to patients who choose to pay with cash.

While the upfront costs associated with dental implants may be higher than those of traditional dental restorations, the long-term benefits and durability of implants can actually save you money in the long run. If you have any questions about the costs of this form of dentistry, please contact us today.

Dental Implant Treatment Timeline

Throughout the process, we will coordinate with your primary dentist to ensure your treatment is as efficient and stress-free as possible.

Anesthesia

Local anesthesia will be administered to numb the treatment area. Dental sedation options are also available to help patients relax during implant surgery.

Preparing the Site

Dr. Austin will create small incisions in the gums to access the jawbone. Using a series of state-of-the-art dental instruments, Dr. Austin will create a small opening in the jawbone ridge to prepare the site for dental implant placement.

Implant Placement

Dr. Austin will strategically place the titanium posts, which act as replacement tooth roots, into the prepared sites in your jaw. We offer many different kinds of implants, so we'll be able to choose the perfect option for your situation. The incisions will then be closed with sutures.

Healing Period

Following placement, the jaw tissue will gradually fuse with the titanium implant. This process, called osseointegration, takes about three to six months to complete.

Abutment Placement

Once osseointegration is complete, Dr. Austin will attach a small connector piece known as an abutment to each implant.

Placement of Final Restoration

After the abutments have been added, your gums may need a few weeks to heal. Then, your dentist will attach your crown, bridge, or denture to your implants.

Qualifications You Can Trust

Dental implant treatment is complex and requires special training on your dentist's part. Unlike most dentists, Dr. Austin has completed additional education and training to become a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. Thanks to his level of expertise, our South Odgen patients can expect excellent treatment results that make dental implants absolutely worth the investment

Candidacy for Dental Implants

Patients considering dental implants must be in good overall health and should not have any medical conditions that could make surgery a risk. Individuals should also be free from extensive tooth decay or gum disease, as these issues can have a negative impact on the success of treatment.

If you do not have sufficient jawbone tissue to support implants, Dr. Austin can perform a bone grafting procedure at our oral surgery practices in Brigham City and South Ogden, UT. We will work with your dentist to ensure you are ready to undergo implant surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Q. Does dental implant placement hurt?

A. No. Dr. Austin will thoroughly numb the area before your procedure begins. We also offer sedation options to help you achieve a more relaxed state and ensure you are completely comfortable throughout the procedure.

Q. How long do dental implants last?

A. Dental implants are made of durable titanium and are designed to last a lifetime. It is important to remember that your porcelain restoration will wear over time and eventually need to be replaced. However, with proper care and maintenance, your dental crown, dental bridge, or denture can last for 15 years or more.

Q. How do I care for my restored smile?

A. Caring for your new smile is easy! Because your restoration is secured to the implant in your jawbone, treat it like you would your natural teeth. Be sure to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day. Don't forget to floss. Also, be sure to visit your dentist regularly for exams and cleaning to help keep your smile beautiful and healthy for years to come.

Q. Can using tobacco products really increase my risk of implant failure?

A. Yes. Tobacco usage has been linked to an increased risk of dental implant failure, as well as a host of other oral and overall health concerns. It is best to permanently stop all tobacco products before your implant placement.
