What Are the Benefits of Bone Grafting?

Boost Confidence

A bone graft begins the process of replacing a missing tooth, restoring your confidence in your smile. Dr. Austin uses advanced grafting material and cutting-edge techniques to achieve unbeatable results.

Maintain Jaw Health

Missing teeth cause the jawbone to deteriorate over time, changing your facial structure and making you look older than you are. A bone graft rebuilds loss tissue and prevents bone atrophy in the future, preserving your appearance.

High Success Rate

When performed by an experienced oral surgeon, grafting creates a foundation for implants that is just as strong and successful as natural bone. Dental implants that are placed following a bone graft can last a lifetime.

How Does the Procedure Work?

This is a common dental procedure used to rebuild jaw tissue in preparation for dental implants. Missing teeth causes the jawbone to lose volume and shrink over time, resulting in bone loss. A dental implant requires a rock-solid foundation that it can fuse with and use to support restorations
This treatment ensures that strong, high-quality bone is available for implant placement, ensuring your results will last for many years. Dr. Austin uses sophisticated techniques with your comfort in mind at all times. For patients who are anxious or would like some extra peace of mind, we offer IV sedation at a reasonable cost at our dental offices in South Ogden and Brigham City.

Awesome doctor. Obviously he knows what he is doing but on top of it, he is a great communicator and makes sure you feel good about what he is doing. He always checks in before the procedure to review the gameplan for the visit to ensure 1. You know what he will be doing and 2. It is what you, as the patient, were planning on and expecting so there are no surprises. He then calls you after a major procedure on same day to check in on you and let you know how it went from his professional perspective (if you were sedated)... Five star guy for sure.

I’ve had Dr Austin help me out with two procedures now. He is very good at what he does. He cares about you and how your doing and it shows. I would recommend Dr Austin to anyone looking for a great oral surgeon! His staff was very good with me and explained things well. They even gave me a little refund because my insurance paid a little more than we thought. Very kind! Thanks everyone!

What to Expect during the Procedure

Consultation

Dr. Austin will conduct a thorough evaluation to plan your bone grafting procedure. Because he is an oral surgeon, he has an expert understanding of the jaw, teeth, and bone, and can determine the best course of action catered to your individual case.

Anesthesia

Anesthesia is administered to ensure your comfort at all times. Patients who are anxious may also choose to undergo IV sedation for maximum comfort.

Placement

After the patient is comfortable, Dr. Austin will create a small incision in the gums. He carefully places grafting material into the affected jaw area, allowing it to fuse with the natural tissues.

Sutures

The surgery site is carefully closed with sutures. Special membranes are used to ensure a sealed incision site that prevents bacteria from entering.

Recovery

Dr. Austin will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and medication to aid you during recovery. Healing usually takes a few months to complete. After the tissue has fully healed, you’re ready for dental implants.

What to Expect after the Procedure

Your body recognizes the grafting material and will begin to regenerate new bone. This causes the jawbone to become stronger over time throughout the healing process. Eventually, the new bone replaces the grafting material entirely, creating a rock-solid foundation for implant placement at our South Ogden or Brigham City dental offices.

What Is the Cost of Bone Grafting?

The cost of grafting depends mainly on the extent of the treatment. No case is exactly the same, and our warm and welcoming staff can provide you with an estimate during your consultation at our offices serving greater Ogden. We strive to provide reasonable pricing and flexibility to patients with extenuating circumstances. Dr. Austin believes that each patient deserves access to the dental care they need and is always open to working with you and your budget.
